OmegaK Krill Oil

OmegaK krill oil is produced in the United States. OmegaK seeks to improve heart health and heart attacks by helping the consumer to balance their omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids. Their mission is to prevent 100,000 heart attacks per year with the implementation of their krill oil to one’s supplementation protocol.

OmegaK krill oil cites several studies proving the benefits of implementing krill oil in the diet. However, these studies were not completed with OmegaK krill oil. The benefits of krill oil they state include: lowers total and LDL cholesterol, lowers triglycerides, increases HDL cholesterol and decreases inflammation. The information is poorly referenced and displayed in a sensationalized manner. While it does give plenty of information on the benefits of krill oil, the information used is generic and not specific to their particular brand of krill oil.

They provide an informative FAQ page which answers many common questions regarding krill oil, including who should take it and who should avoid taking it, as well as a few formulation specifications such as being gluten free.

OmegaK krill oil is trying to promote its product as the silver bullet to health, even stating in their FAQs that exercise and healthy eating come second to a supplement protocol. There should be a greater emphasis on incorporating their product into an already healthy lifestyle for best results.

The formulation is in easy-to-absorb phospholipid form and sourced from the Antarctic, eliminating the risk of contaminants. They claim that there are no “fish burps” that tend to come along with some fish-based omega-3 supplements. Unfortunately, OmegaK does not provide detailed information about their ingredients on the website making the consumer search elsewhere to find the information. This shows a lack of transparency on their part.

Due to the lack of information and poorly presented generic studies, OmegaK krill oil is not recommended. It is advisable to know what is in such a potent dietary supplement and OmegaK does not provide this information. There are better options for krill oil that are available to the public that provide this transparency.
